Dear Dustin,
Today's House vote approving Rep. Mike Pence's Amendment stripping Planned Parenthood of all federal funding is long overdue and sends a clear message: The American people do not want their tax dollars used to support the nation's largest abortion provider.
In just a few days, the ACLJ has heard from nearly 55,000 people who urged the House to defund Planned Parenthood by signing on to a petition demanding action. You are a critical voice in this fight for the lives of unborn babies.
There's no better place to begin the budget-cutting process, than putting a stop to funding Planned Parenthood. It's stunning that Planned Parenthood receives more than $360 million dollars a year in federal taxpayer funds. According to its own filings, Planned Parenthood reported more than 330,000 abortions in 2009 alone, a number that continues to climb. By receiving this windfall of federal funds, Planned Parenthood is able to free-up other resources, enabling them to continue to promote and expand their pro-abortion agenda.
The ACLJ continues to work legislatively and legally to protect human life. The ACLJ is in federal court in California pursuing a massive fraud case against Planned Parenthood affiliates in that state. The ACLJ is representing a former Planned Parenthood executive who alleges the organization overbilled the federal and state government by millions of dollars.
Now that the House of Representatives has passed this budget that bans taxpayer funds for Planned Parenthood, it goes to the United States Senate. This is going to be a much tougher fight; but with your help, we will keep the pressure on and be the voice for the unborn.
Thank you for making your commitment to life and your support of this tremendous victory.
Sincerely,
Jay Sekulow
ACLJ, Chief Counsel
P.S. We are still needing every pro-life American to sign our petition to Congress as we take the fight to the U.S. Senate. Please sign the petition now if you have not done so already and forward this email to pro-life friends and family members. Thank you.
